A long trek along the coastlineWebmaster's note: Tonight's transmission occurred at 10:07 pm King William Island time. Previous calls have been crystal clear, but tonight it was almost impossible to understand what was being said. Transmission was shrill and badly broken up, with occasional clear moments. We hope that this is due to some type of temporary interference and does not indicate that the battery has run down. The solar charger is cached at Cape Crozier. Tonight's report will be very brief.

We are all exhausted. We have hiked for 14 hours today, covering over 20 miles, thoroughly exploring the coastline in and out of every inlet. No Franklin sites were found, although we did see a polar bear skeleton and the carcass of a whale that had washed up on shore. A few more Inuit tent rings were also noted.

We almost made it to Little Point. It is about two miles ahead of us, but we are too tired to get there tonight.

The team in dense fog. "The dense fog has us concerned - so does the lifespan of my GPS batteries..."
