Daily Log - July 18, 1997

Expected routeWe are still in Cambridge Bay. Unfortunately, we were unable to fly out today as planned. We have been assured that the Beaver float plane will be available to take us to King William Island at 8:30 am tomorrow. This extra time provided us an opportunity to do a thorough organization of our food supplies, gear and equipment.

Derek spent much of the day fishing (unsucessfully) for Arctic char. Perhaps they weren't biting because the weather was too good!

Tomorrow will be a full day. Our plans are to fly first to Cape Crozier and cache some food, then to the site where three bodies were discovered in 1993 at McClintock's Boat Place, registered as site NgLj-3. We will bury the remains, build a stone cairn and mount a commemorative plaque. From there, we will fly to the northern tip of Graham Gore Penninsula and begin our exploration (on foot) of the coast, all the way to the Terror Bay area.
