Daily Log - August 25, 1998

Webmaster's note: I still have not heard from the team but a reader named Albert Ehaloak, in Cambridge Bay, sent me e-mail to say he would try to cotact Pat Lyall on our behalf today and would send me whatever information he could. I know Pat can make radio contact with the guides, so I assumed we would know something later today. Albert did send me a short message later in the day. Thank you, Albert! It said:
Hi again,
Pat just phoned me when I sent you the last email. He said they are going towards Taloyoak because there is too much ice. He doesn't know why they didn't let you know.
Albert.
I have since sent Albert another message asking several questions to clarify what has happened, but as yet there has been no response. If I do not hear anything more by tomorrow afternoon, I will try to telephone Pat Lyall from here, and establish some system for communicating with the team.

I'm not concerned about the team's safety, I'm sure they're in the best possible hands. But I would certainly like to know what is happening up there! Assuming they can cover about 10 miles a day, they should soon be reaching Sam and Leah's camp. I do not want to miss hearing what they find there! Once again, if you are viewing this from the viscinity of the Boothia Penninsula and can assist us in communicating, please contact us.
